DR. DANIEL WILLIAMS: Once an egg donor has completed the screening process she is placed into our egg donor profile book. She may then be selected by a recipient couple. Once this has occurred there are going to be some logistics such as coordinating the menstrual cycles of both the donor and the recipient. Typically, stimulation of the donor’s ovaries to produce eggs takes approximately one to two weeks. The eggs are then retrieved and mixed with the husband or partner’s sperm and embryos are generated. They are then replaced back into the uterus of the recipient.
